Workforce Management for the Millennial – Scheduling

Since 2016, Millennials have become the largest portion of the workforce according to Pew Research Center. They are also not fans of the typical “9am-5pm” work schedule. They prefer flexibility, choice, and work-life balance. Millennials value work that is meaningful which can vary by industry, but if the environment doesn’t meet other expectations then their tenure is typically shortened to less than two years.

One-way JBDev is finding a solution is through flexible self-scheduling. The organization creates a set of rules, and then employees are free to pick and choose schedules that fit their personal preferences. Employees are also given the ability to trade shifts with other employees as well as pick up available overtime shifts. These simple adjustments put control into the employee’s hands making them feel valued while also keeping quality and improving overall morale.
